The Sedgwick Reserve Vegetation Management Program (VMP) is a 10-year (2024-2034) agreement between UCSB and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFire) allowing prescribed burning in designated areas of the reserve to reduce potential wildfire impacts to the community of Woodstock Ranch, Midland School, the Sedgwick Reserve and the Los Padres National Forest. The VMP also provides opportunities for research on ecological effects of prescribed fire, along with training in prescribed fire operations and monitoring.
